Over a week ago I had a tonsillectomy (removal of the tonsils) and am still in the recovery process. The first several days I stayed in bed all day, which you can imaging, gets boring real quick. So besides watching tv, movies, web surfing, etc, I have been working on a gift for my best friend. It is a Flight of the Conchords shadow box and I am nearly finished with it. Everything in it will be hand-drawn and handmade. I haven't kept track of the number of hours I've put into it..but it has been quite an endeavour! The only thing left to do is draw the guys, Bret and Jemaine. For some reason, every time I start drawing Bret it just doesn't look like him. It is so frustrating! But I'll get it eventually. I am so excited to finish this project and even more to give it to my friend on his birthday, October 8th.

Besides the Flight of the Conchords shadow box, I also have a started charcoal drawing of Sookie and Bill from True Blood. I started it over two months ago and have only worked on it once since. I also bought the fabric to make an apron like the one Sookie wears in the show because I'm hoping I have something to do this Halloween and I want to dress as a Merlotte's waitress. I bought a plain white t-shirt and just need to get the Merlotte's logo ironed on.

And my last bit of news is that I start school at the Art Institute of CA, Orange County on October 5th. I am both excited and nervous. Excited because I am finally going to real college (I spent four years in community college ), and nervous because I am shy with new people and I am majoring in web design and interactive media, which is brand new for me. I am told that my artistic and graphic design knowledge will greatly help me out, so I am hoping that is the case. Only time will tell!!!
